Why I can’t vote for Rick Santorum

Actually, that list would be quite long. I could say it’s his interventionist foreign policy, his promotion of waterboarding or his overwhelming support of the “Bush Doctrine”. However, there is one thing that sticks out to me, to which indicates that Santorum is nothing but a Republican hack and is willing to go along with the crowd while dismissing the Constitution and calls for smaller government that real conservatives want.

Remember the 2012 Republican Presidential debates (there were so many of them)? Santorum spoke something that disgusts me to this day. When answering a question about his vote for No Child Left Behind, Mr Santorum said (LISTEN):

“I have to admit, I voted for that. It was against the principles I believed in, but you know when you’re part of the team sometimes you take one for the team, for the leader, and I made a mistake,” Santorum said.

“You know, politics is a team sport, folks, and sometimes you’ve got to rally together and do something and in this case I thought testing and finding out how bad the problem was wasn’t a bad idea,” he added.

So Mr Santorum was willing to continue to contribute to the incredible decline of the American educational system “for the team”?

What does Santorum say now that he’s running again in 2016?

According to his campaign website: Rick Santorum believes we must rally together to stop any more top-down, nationalized education standards. Rick Santorum knows that our country’s public education system isn’t working, and we all want to improve opportunities for our children, but more government intervention is not the answer. Instead, parents, teachers, school districts, and local communities should be making the important decisions about education.

Political expediency. No thanks, Rick.
