West Virginia sex offender Kevin Yonson arrested after being found passed out at Florida McDonald’s
A convicted sex offender from West Virginia is now facing a long list of new charges after police found that man and another woman passed out in the drive-thru of a Florida McDonald’s. Identified as Kevin Yonson, the man struggled with police before being arrested for DUI, driving without a license, battery on a police officer, resisting a police officer with violence and several other charges.
Yonson, 28, was convicted in West Virginia of sexual assault. He failed to register as a sex offender in Monroe County.
Yonson and a woman, 33, in the passenger seat, were awakened by a police officer responding to a call from the restaurant’s manager, Josue Barrera. Barrera explained to police that their Ford hadn’t pulled forward after ordering and when he walked outside, they didn’t wake up when he tapped on the window.
Barrera said that’s when he called the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
One of the first deputies on scene went to the passenger side of the car and saw a woman asleep, with her “mouth open, with drool coming down her face.”
The deputy tapped on the window several times. The woman eventually woke up and rolled down the window.
The deputy said he smelled a strong aroma of alcohol coming from the car.
Yonson told deputies he was in the Florida Keys for the past five weeks working on cell phone towers. He said he also had taken two Xanax pills. He is now facing charges of DUI, driving without a license, battery on an officer, resisting officer with violence, resisting officer without violence, fraud, and failing to register as a sex offender.
He has three DUI arrests in South Carolina on his record as well.
The woman was questioned and driven to a local hotel. She has not been charged with any crimes at this time.
