Watch Benedict Cumberbatch in new ‘Imitation Game’ trailer
The latest trailer has arrived for The Imitation Game, in which Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Enigma code-breaker Alan Turing, the genius secret weapon during the Second World War.
Turing is a talented mathematician, but the story covers the other side of Turing’s story was his homosexuality, and the persecution he faced as a result of it.
This latest trailer does a decent job of juggling the film’s dual aspects as both thriller and emotional drama, with Turing’s inner turmoil juxtaposed nicely by his professional brilliance.
There is nothing explicit and Cumberbatch says that’s the beauty of the storytelling.
“If you need to see that to understand that he’s gay, then all is lost for any kind of subtle storytelling,” he told The Wrap.
“It’s not something that needed to be made obvious. The conversations are so naked in themselves that the idea of having to see two naked men wasn’t something I ever thought was missing in the script,” he added.
The Sherlock star ia garnering praise from the film festival communities with an Cumberbatch looks to have turned in an Oscar worthy performance in the central role, and with a top-notch British cast backing him up, this looks to be one of the highlights of the upcoming awards season.
Directed by Morten Tyldum and co-starring Keira Knightley, Charles Dance, Mark Strong and Matthew Goode, The Imitation Game will open in theateers on November 21, 2014.
