Warner Bros hires director Nic Mathieu for ‘Robotech’ movie
Warner Bros appearrs to be moving forward on a big-budget adaptation of the popular anime “Robotech” featuring giant mechanical warriors.
Heat Vision reports Jan. 24 that Robotech is finally set up at Warner Bros. with Mathieu in talks to direct. The commercials helmer is known for his work with computer-generated effects, but Robotech would be his first feature debut.
Akiva Goldsman and Tobey Maguire are producing along with Matthew Plouffe, Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell.
Brief summary from THR: Robotech takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific island. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off three successive waves of alien invasions.
