Wanda Sykes booed off stage by Boston fans

Wanda Sykes found herself on headlines and trending on social media after she shouted a series of expletives while giving the middle finger to the audience during a charity event in Boston Saturday. Sykes was booed for her anti-Trump comments at the 22nd annual Comics Come Home fundraiser on behalf of the Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care.

“I am certain this is not the first time we’ve elected a racist, sexist, homophobic president,” Sykes told the crowd according to the Boston Herald. “He’s just the first confirmed one, that’s it.”

Sykes’ comments were met with loud boos, prompting the comedian to yell out, “F–k you, motherf—er, f–k all of y’all.”

She then began pointing at various audience members and said, “F–k you, you, you.”

Before exiting the stage, the Boston Herald reports a woman came out and hugged Sykes while holding a peace sign which elicited cheers from the audience.

Fellow comic and performer Denis Leary defended Sykes and told the crowd she deserved their respect.

“For 22 years we have never censored any performer at Comics Come Home,” he said. “Each comedian is free to speak their mind. This has resulted in the longest running stand-up charity event in America.”

Sykes’ attorney told The Boston Herald that she plans to issue a statement about the incident via social media.

Tim Young tweeted a video HERE with this to say: “Watch out-of-touch elitist comedian Wanda Sykes get booed by an arena for calling a racist/sexist, then tell the crowd to F itself.”

It seems that after years of giving President Obama a pass on insult comedy, Hollywood is quick to target the President-elect and even the liberal leaning folks of Massachusetts found it repulsive.

The comedian was a vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton, and has campaigned for same-sex marriage and animal rights.

Kudos to the Boston Herald for there coverage and the image of Sykes raising her middle finger to the crowd. We support her free speech and the right to be a complete jerk towards to the president, but with that comes everyone else’s free speech to reject you. Ouch.
