Walton Goggins, Boyd Crowder, talks ‘Justified’ season 3
Justified star Walton Goggins has dropped hints about his character Boyd’s role in the upcoming third season.
In last night’s second season finale, Boyd’s girlfriend Ava (Joelle Carter) was shot and wounded by Dickie Bennet (Jeremy Davies).
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Goggins suggested that Boyd will seek revenge, saying: “You never know in television, really, [but] I would say that messing with Boyd Crowder is a bad thing [and] messing with a woman that Boyd Crowder loves is a worse thing.”
He added: “I don’t think you’ve seen the last of Dickie. I’ll give you that.”
The actor also admitted that he is keen for viewers to remain unsure of reformed criminal Boyd’s loyalties.
“I would like to see him continue to walk the line between a person that on paper you’re not supposed to like, but a person when viewed [who] you have great empathy for,” he explained. “I hope that we continue to explore the relationship between Boyd and Raylan (Timothy Olyphant), and why these men have become the men that they’ve become.”
Goggins previously revealed that he enjoys exploring the “ambiguity” of Boyd’s character.
Justified is expected to return for a third run of 13 episodes in 2012.
