‘Walking Dead’ star Danai Gurira confirmed for ‘Black Panther’ follow-up with ‘Infinity War’ appearance

While Walking Dead star Danai Gurira has joined the Black Panther film as Okoye, one of the female warriors who watch over the royal family of Chadwick Boseman’s character, T’Challa, she is also confirmed for an appearance in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War.

Deadline reports the news, now picked up by other sites, but there is little more than speculation and Deadline’s reputation: “No one is saying, but I’m speculating that she has brought to The Avengers sequel her Black Panther character Okoye, one of the ferocious female warriors who watch over the royal family of Chadwick Boseman’s character in Black Panther.”

The new Black Panther trailer revealed Okoye and the tone of the film as well as a look at the Dora Milaje.

The Dora Milaje are a group of women warriors who are chosen from different tribes across Wakanda and trained to serve and guard the king. Originally assembled as the superior women from the tribes who could potentially marry the king, they now only act as bodyguards.

Known for playing Michonne on AMC’s The Walking Dead, Gurira will co-star in All Eyez On Me, the Benny Boom-directed Lionsgate film about Tupac Shakur with Demetrius Shipp Jr playing Tupac. Gurira is playing the hip-hop icon’s mother, Afeni Shakur.

Here’s all the details on Infinity War:

As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.

Avengers: Infinity War opens on April 27th 2018 in the UK and May 4th 2018 in the US and will feature an all-star cast including Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Paul Bettany (Vision), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Benedict Wong (Wong), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Sean Gunn (Kraglin), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Samuel L.
