‘Walking Dead’ director Frank Darabont to rewrite ‘Godzilla’ reboot, Joseph Gordon-Levitt says ‘no’ as lead

The “Godzilla” reboot, which will be directed by Gareth Edwards (“Monsters”) finalized a deal to have season one “The Walking Dead” director Frank Darabont polish the final script.

Godzilla teaser posterDeadline confirmed on Monday Darabont  will complete a final rewrite on the script that was written by The Seventh Son scribe Max Borenstein.

In more “Godzilla” news Heat Vision broke word of Joseph Gordon-Levitt being in consideration for the lead role, Variety listed off the actors that are being considered for the project: Gordon-Levitt, Henry CavillScoot McNairy (Argo), and Caleb Landry Jones (X-Men: First Class).

That article specified that Gordon-Levitt and Cavill are “studio choices,” while McNairy and Jones are “creative choices.”

Heat Vision later clarified that Gordon-Levitt has, in actuality, already passed on the project, leaving Cavill, McNairy, and Jones as the remaining candidates.
