‘Walking Dead’ actor Cooper Andrews joins ‘Shazam’ as a foster parent

Despite mixed reviews and growing financial concerns, fans will indeed see expansion to the DC Cinematic Universe with Shazam! moving forward, adding another cast member.

Cooper Andrews, who co-stars as Jerry, loyalist to the Kingdom, on AMC’s The Walking Dead, has come aboard the David F. Sandberg-directed Shazam! Andrews will play the foster parent at the group home where Billy lives named Victor Vasquez.

Zachary Levi is stars as the title character, who’s the adult superhero version of Billy Batson, played by Asher Angel.

Billy is able to transform into Shazam by uttering the moniker, an acronym of the ancient world gods and historical figures Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury.

Mark Strong is rumored to be playing Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, who turns to magic to save his family and brings Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) into the fold to battle Shazam.

Jack Dylan Grazer will play Freddy Freeman, Billy’s friend who ultimately controls the powers of the Rock of Eternity and becomes a different Captain Marvel. Billy’s long lost sister will be played by Grace Fulton.

Ian Chen and Jovan Armand also co-star. Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke wrote the screenplay, which Peter Safran is producing.

Andrews, who recurred as Yo-Yo Engberk in AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire, also has a role in next year’s Gerard Butler action film called Den of Thieves.

Shazam! arrives in theaters on April 5, 2019
