‘Voltron: From Days of Long Ago’ released to celebrate 30th anniversary

Since Voltron: Defender of the Universe hit the TV airwaves in 1984, the world of giant robots has never been the same.

In Voltron: From Days of Long Ago (A Thirtieth Anniversary Celebration) [Perfect Square, an imprint of VIZ Media, LLC], diehard fans and newcomers to the world of Voltron alike are offered an in-depth, never-before-seen look inside the incredible – and remarkably influential – Voltron universe.

Voltron celebrating 30th anniversaryExquisitely detailed and packed full of stories, archival images, exclusive interviews, and brand-new materials created solely for the book, Voltron: From Days of Long Ago chronicles the mythology of one of pop culture’s most beloved animated series – and showcases the enormous impact the Defender of the Universe continues to have on the world of entertainment.

Voltron: From Days of Long Ago brings together such notable writers, animators and creators as Brian Smith (the writer of Perfect Square’s bestselling Voltron Force series of original graphic novels), Marc Morrell (co-host of Let’s Voltron!, the official Voltron podcast), Joshua Bernard (founder of toy archive CollectionDX), Jacob Chabot (Eisner-nominated cartoonist) and Jeremy Corray (former creative director, World Events Productions). The result is a not-to-be-missed addition to the commemorative hardcover market sure to inform, surprise and delight every generation of Voltron fan.

“To celebrate Voltron’s 30th, we wanted to do something really special,” says Traci N. Todd, Senior Editor of Voltron: From Days of Long Ago. “The book starts almost like a yearbook with tributes from all over the world and then dives right in with archival images, interviews with the original production team, a survey of the top Voltron toys, and an examination of the Voltron mythology—both Vehicle and Lion Force. Everyone who worked on this book is a huge Voltron fan. We all hope you love Voltron: From Days of Long Ago as much as we love bringing it to you!”

Voltron: From Days of Long Ago debuted at New York Comic Con earlier this month (check out a clip of the panel discussion here), and hits retailers on October 28, 2014 — just in time to make for the perfect gift for the wannabe-‘Defender Of The Universe’ on your holiday shopping list.
