Virginia teens, Khalid Caraballo and Aiden Clark, suspended for playing with air-soft guns at bus stop

A suspended seventh-grade student in Virginia Beach, Virginia could be expelled for the rest of the school year for shooting an airsoft gun with a friend in his yard as they waited for the bus to come.

Khalid Caraballo screenshot interviewKhalid Caraballo, age 12, and his friend, Aidan, were suspended for “possession, handling and use of a firearm” because they “shot two other friends who were with them while playing” with the airsoft guns, WAVY-TV reported.

During the interview Caraballo answered “no, sir,” when asked if he took the toy gun to the bus stop or to school.

“We were in our yard. This had nothing to do with school,” the student said.

Caraballo’s mother, Angel, said being punished for “possession, handling and use of a firearm” was “pretty harsh” for a toy that she bought for $25.

It’s also worth noting that every photo of the child with the toy gun has the orange tip on the end to indicate that it is NOT a real firearm.

Tim Clark, Aidan’s father, told the news station that the school neglected to use common sense in the incident that occurred off school property.

The neighbor is the one who called 911 confessing that the boys were shooting zombies with a target and even had a net to catch the plastic pellets.

She told the dispatcher, “He is pointing the gun, and it looks like there’s a target in a tree in his front yard”.

She stated that she knew the gun wasn’t real but was “uncomfortable” seeing them play with a toy gun.

“This is not a real one, but it makes people uncomfortable. I know that it makes me (uncomfortable), as a mom, to see a boy pointing a gun,” she told the 911 dispatcher.

Khalid said he will never do this again. “It’s terrible. I won’t get the chance to go to a good college.  It’s on your school record. The school said I had possession of a firearm. They aren’t going to ask me any questions. They are going to think it was a real gun, and I was trying to hurt someone.  They will say ‘oh, we can’t accept you.’ “

These school officials are ignorant and lack common sense. These people should not be allowed to educate dogs and certainly not kids.

What they are doing is using the future of children to advance their political agenda. Typical liberals.

It may seem harsh, but understanding the new law that went into effect on July 1 here in Virginia regarding buffer zones when discharging pnuematic weapons and the fact that they were actually firing at and hitting other kids makes me feel the school did the right thing. Also, I have to wonder in what universe any mother would think it was ok for kids to be shooting at other kids (or anyone else), even with an air gun. Water pistols, yes. Paint guns, yes. Other projectile– NO.

Um, did you not notice the discrepancy between the school’s reported accounting and the one presented by the boy’s family, neighbor, and police?

The school claimed the boys were shooting at other children on the street, but this was never mentioned by the police or families. One of these two parties is lying, and it’s most likely the school.

And do you even understand the nature of projectile weapons? Paint guns are NOT in the same class as water guns and are significantly more dangerous than air guns. Even with protection, paintball guns cause welts and bruises from a distance. up close and with no protection and real damage will follow.

Airsoft guns are nowhere near this level of danger, and the boys weren’t even shooting other people with it…
