Vidya Balan in Cannes Film Festival’s jury with Steven Spielberg
Bollywood actress, Vidya Balan is the member of the 66th Cannes Film Festival’s nine-member jury, which is helmed by Hollywood director Steven Spielberg. The news was shared by film critic Rajeev Masand on Twitter.
Masand tweeted, “Vidya Balan to serve on Cannes jury this year along with Nicole Kidman, Ang Lee, Christoph Waltz and jury president Steven Spielberg!”
He followed it up by, “Great year for India at Cannes: 5 films across sections. Vidya B on competition jury, Nandita D on student film jury, Mr Bachchan for Gatsby!”
The team of Steven Spielberg will award the coveted Palme d’Or prize to one of the 19 films in competition at this year’s festival, which runs from May 15 to 26.
Cannes will be celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema and will screen “Bombay Talkies,” an anthology film by four directors –Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar and Karan Johar, along with Anurag Kashyap’s “Ugly,” among others.
