VIDEO: Protesters surround Tucker Carlson’s home, trying to knock door down and chant ‘We know where you sleep at night’

Fox News host Tucker Carlson was at his desk Wednesday evening, less than two hours before his 8 p.m. live show, when he began receiving texts from his wife: protesters surrounded his Washington D.C., trying to break the front door down and chanted “We know where you sleep at night.”

Claiming to be Antifa and the Alt-Left Smash Racism D.C., group, the protesters chanted “Tucker Carlson, we will fight. We know where you sleep at night” outside of the home, causing his wife to retreat to a pantry and call 911.

Check out the video, where the group can also be heard saying, “Racist scumbag, leave town!”

“I called my wife,” Carlson told The Washington Post in a phone interview. “She had been in the kitchen alone getting ready to go to dinner and she heard pounding on the front door and screaming. … Someone started throwing himself against the front door and actually cracked the front door.”

Roughly 20 people had gathered outside Carlson’s residence, said Lt. Jon Pongratz of the D.C. police.

Authorities received a call at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and responded “within a few minutes,” Pongratz told The Post.

They noted that an “unknown persons spray painted an anarchy symbol on the driveway. There were also signs left on the vehicles parked in the driveway as well as a sign left on the front door of the home.”

“There is currently an open criminal investigation regarding this matter,” the Metropolitan Police Department said on Thursday, a day after protestors gathered at Carlson’s home

“We welcome those who come here to exercise their First Amendment rights in a safe and peaceful manner,” the department said in a statement on Thursday afternoon. “However, we prohibit them from breaking the law. Last night, a group of protestors broke the law by defacing private property at a Northwest, DC residence. MPD takes these violations seriously, and we will work to hold those accountable for their unlawful actions. There is currently an open criminal investigation regarding this matter.”

“It wasn’t a protest. It was a threat,” said Carlson. “They weren’t protesting anything specific that I had said. They weren’t asking me to change anything. They weren’t protesting a policy or advocating for legislation. … They were threatening me and my family and telling me to leave my own neighborhood in the city that I grew up in.”

He added that he still does not know who was behind the protest, but plans to find out.

On Twitter, Smash Racism D.C. accused Carlson of spreading “fear into our homes” every night, taking particular issue with his comments about the migrant caravan.

“Tonight you’re reminded that we have a voice,” a now-deleted tweet read. “Tonight, we remind you that you are not safe either.”
