VIDEO President Obama riles critics with future of ‘shared prosperity’ comment
President Obama on Sunday asked a group of enthusiastic supporters at a fundraiser in Chicago whether they’d rather “go forward” and experience a future of “shared prosperity” or backward and support the “policies that got us into this mess in the first place.”
Republicans and critics of the President raced to make comparisons to the 2008 Joe the Plumber comments regarding sharing the wealth. (see the video below)
“I believe we have to go forward,” the president said. “I believe we have to keep working to create an America where no matter who you are, no matter what you look like, no matter where you come from, no matter what your last name is, no matter who you love, you can make it here if you try.”
“That‘s what’s at stake in November. That’s what is why I am running for a second term as president of the United States of America,” he added.
