Van Dralan Dixson arrested in Dallas serial rape case through DNA testing
Serial rapist Van Dralan Dixson, a crime watch block captain, was taken into custody on Tuesday, September 10 in Baton Rouge, La. The 38-year-oldwas accused of series of sexual assaults that happened in the Fair Park area in South Dallas.
Police officials confirmed that DNA evidence, which the officials had obtained during questioning, linked the suspect to at least four of the nine sexual assaults, with lab results pending for the other cases.
After DNA match, an arrest warrant was issued for Van Dralan Dixson with $1 million bond. Dixson, who remained a fugitive for long was finally located at a downtown motel at Baton Rouge. He will be sent to Dallas for interrogations, confirmed Dallas Police Dept. Chief David Brown. Further details of the arrest will be shared with the media on Wednesday, said Brown.
Alenda Lyons, President of the Mill City Community Association in Dallas said it was time to “draw the line against crime.” Dixson’s background as a member of the crime-watch program was never checked for safety purposes – although, state crime records show that he was previously arrested on charges of robbery, sexual assault and terrorist threats.
