US military prepares for Libya despite not being welcomed by rebels
As US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton demands Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi step down immediately, the US military is positioning itself with naval and air forces close by the country in upheaval.

Pentagon spokesman, Colonel David Lapan, told Reuters that they are prepared to offer assistance, humanitarian or otherwise.
Clinton went on to say that the U.S. is prepared to offer “any kind of assistance” to Libyans looking to overthrow Muammar Gaddafi’s regime.
Secretary Clinton has been trying to corral European backing in the removal of the Libyan madman to end his 40-year rule.
The European Union has already established an arms embargo, visa ban and other sanctions on Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi’s regime and British Prime Minister David Cameron even said, “we do not in any way rule out the use of military assets”.
However, Libyan rebels have clearly articulated they don’t want foreign intervention. In a news conference, Hafiz Ghoga, the spokesman for the National Libyan Council said “foreign intervention is not welcome”.
Ghoga goes on to say that “the rest of Libya will be liberated by the people.”
So here we go again, in the name of removing a bad guy from power, it appears we could be using military force even though it’s not wanted.
Even those on Capital Hill who love war can smell another opportunity to use the military. Neocon Senators John McCain and Joe Lieberman both hinted at using military force on CNN yesterday.
Good grief, are we just going to ignore the will of the Libyans to fight there own battle? I’m sure we’ll know soon enough.
