Unhappy with your Home? Top Tips to Fall in Love with It Again

Outgrowing a home is easy. You have too many things; your family keeps growing, and you don’t have enough space. Did you know the average family gains about 1,000 pounds worth of new stuff every year?

In many cases, outgrowing your home is just a matter of not addressing problems before they get out of hand, and not maximizing the space that you have available.

A home that has become crowded and cluttered can quickly lead to stressful and strained living situation. Instead of packing up and moving to a bigger place, fall in love with your home all over again by making intelligent use of every square inch.

With just a few simple steps, you can take back control of your home and make it a place that is unique, organized and works to serve your needs and accommodate your lifestyle.

  1.    Spring Clean

The first step that you should take is to conduct a comprehensive spring cleaning of your home.

This kind of cleaning goes beyond scrubbing baseboards; it is time to get rid of everything that you do not want or need anymore. You would be surprised how little you miss a lot of things you’ve held onto all these years, and you will transform your space into one that works for you, rather than the other way around.

  1.    Add More Storage

You would be amazed at how much space your closets are wasting! You could have all the space you need by merely making better use of the space that you already have. Investing in a custom closet will maximize the amount of storage you get out of your closets, help control clutter, and allow for room to grow even more. Similarly, you could transform a plain wall into a storage space that your home desperately needs. The possibilities are endless if your items have a place to go – neatly, and beautifully.

  1.    Consider an Extension

Kitchens and bedrooms are spaces that have a significant impact on your home happiness. You spend a lot of time in them, after all, and if they are too small, it can affect how you feel about your home. Adding an extension, particularly one that will either add space to your kitchen or another bedroom. These two renovations will add significant value to your home. You can enjoy the home addition and still recoup some of the costs when you sell the house.

  1.    Makeover

Putting effort into dressing your home will play a huge part in how you feel about it. Go ahead and put effort into the design. Browse Pinterest or other interior design magazines and plan out each room and work on it. The same applies to your yard space. The more effort you put into the design, the better.

If you are frustrated and unhappy with your home, don’t be quick to dismiss it as “not the one.” You will find that with just a few improvements it can be the dream house you always thought it would be. You only need to tap into its potential.
