‘Twilight’ and ‘X-Men First Class’ star Edi Gathegi joins ‘Beauty and the Beast’
“X-Men: First Class” star Edi Gathegi has won a role on “Beauty and the Beast.” Gathegi will play the recurring role of Kyle on the CW series, Entertainment Weekly reported Wednesday.
Kyle is described as a “composed agent for a top-secret organization with killer looks and instincts to match. He doesn’t like his time to be wasted, and can easily assess anyone’s weaknesses and happily exploit them.”
The casting comes just after CW’s entertainment president Mark Pedowitz spoke confidently on Beauty‘s renewal odds, telling reporters, “we’re very pleased in terms of where it’s going creatively … We believe the show has a very long run in front of it. We’ve made no announcements about a second season. But based on the passion of the fans both on the E! Online and the People’s Choice Awards, we think we have something in this epic love story between Cat and Vincent.”
Gathegi, age 33, is best known for his film credits, including 2007’s Gone Baby Gone, 2008’s Twilight and its 2009 sequel New Moon. He has also appeared in episodes of House, Nikita and Veronica Mars.
Kristin Kreuk stars as Catherine with Jay Ryan as Vincent. “Beauty and the Beast” is on episode 10 of a 22 episode run in the show’s first season.
