‘True Detective’ season 2 set in California, not in LA and will have a female lead
Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson will certainly not be alone in season 2 of HBO’s hit show True Detective as the crime drama will stay in California, but will change venues.
On the To the Best of Our Knowledge podcast, creator/writer/producer, Nic Pizzolatto said that “Right now, we’re working with three leads. It takes place in California. Not Los Angeles, but some of the lesser known venues of California and we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambience of the place, much like we did with season one.”
Jessica Chastain of Zero Dark Thirty fame has been rumored to be attached, but E Online confirmed that deal is not going to happen.
These rumors were spurned after Pizzolatto did an interview with HitFix and when asked about the upcoming season he said, “This is really early, but I’ll tell you (it’s about) hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system.”
HBO has released any real information about a second season, technically not even announcing the deal, but it seems like a shoe ready to drop.
