‘True Blood’ star Anna Paquin as Rogue cut out of ‘X-Men Days of Future Past’
Anna Paquin’s charater Rogue has been deleted from the latest film, X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Paquin, who played Rogue in the original X-Men trilogy films, was cut out of the sequel, director Bryan Singer revealed to Entertainment Weekly.
“It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. ”
The Oscar-winning actress (The Piano) shot a rescue sequence with Ian McKellan (Magneto), Patrick Stewart (Professor X) and Shawn Ashmore (Iceman) set to appear early on in the film.
“Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it.”
Singer praised the True Blood star, “She did a fantastic job. She was awesome in the sequence. She’s a brilliant actress. I would work with her in a heartbeat.”
“She (Paquin) completely understood,” Singer said. “It’s very disappointing, but she’s very professional and she knows that stuff happens, particularly with material you shoot early on in production. Films evolve.”
X-Men: Days of Future Past also stars Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Peter Dinklage, Ellen Page, Omar Sy, and Halle Berry. The film opens in 3D on May 23, 2014.
