Tony Jaimes and Maria Jaimes identified as the teens murdered in San Diego motel
Friends are mourning the deaths of a 16-year-old boy and his 11-year-old sister, who were found dead Tuesday at a South Bay motel near San Diego. The pair were apparently part of a murder-suicide carried out by their father, Maurillo Jamies-Soto.
Police officers were conducting a welfare check at the request of the childrens’ mother when they discovered the deaths.
KFMB reports how classmates identified the victims as 16-year-old Tony Jaimes, a sophomore at Mission Bay High School, and 11-year-old Maria Jaimes.
Friends and classmates were posting condolences for Tony Jaimes on his Facebook page Tuesday night.
Police were not looking for any suspects and the motive for the crime was unknown, according to a sergeant.
No one at or near the motel reported hearing gunfire in the hours before the bodies were found.
