TNT ‘okays’ ‘Falling Skies’ season 5, ‘Major Crimes’ season 4 and ‘The Last Ship’ season 2
TNT didn’t waste anytime by announcing renewals for several of their hit shows. Deadline was quick to announce the news on Friday that the “sci-fi drama Falling Skies has been renewed for a fifth and final season, and the network also gave a second-season order to freshman hit The Last Ship and a fourth-season pickup to Major Crimes.”

The final season of Falling Skies will be ten episodes and a there will be additional thirteen episodes of The Last Ship, which is three more than the inaugural season. Major Crimes got a big “up” for fifteen episodes. This latest news added Rizzoli & Isles may be picked up for a sixth season as negotiations were underway.
“TNT’s refreshed and recharged drama brand is soaring this summer, and that is due in large part to these three enormously popular dramas,” said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM).
“The Last Ship has become this summer’s top drama among key adult demos with its epic scale and visceral storytelling. Major Crimes continues to be one of the most enduring and popular crime-drama franchises on television. And Falling Skies has begun an ambitious and thrilling story arc this summer as it sets the stage for next year’s climactic final season.”
“Last Ship has averaged more than 7.2 million viewers in Live + 7 and ranks as basic cable’s #1 scripted series this summer with adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 as well as also cable’s #1 new series for the year-to-date among total viewers and adults 25-54,” Deadline details.
Fans may be surprised to learn there is still no news on the new crime drama Murder in the First.
Falling Skies stars Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Drew Roy, Will Patton, Sarah Carter, Maxim Knight, Scarlett Byrne and Doug Jones and executive producer David Eick are slated to participate in a SDCC panel on the show’s current fourth season. The Falling Skies session will also include video clips from upcoming episodes, plus the world premiere of the trailer for the upcoming video game Falling Skies: The Game.
