TNT approves ‘Dallas’ season 3, 15 new episodes set for 2014

TNT moved forward on Tuesday with the approval of Dallas for a third season.

Produced by Warner Horizon Television, Dallas is a reboot/follow-up to the iconic 1980s series, which starred Patrick Duffy and Larry Hagman.

Deadline confirms that TNT has ordered 15 episodes for the third season, which is slated to launch in early 2014.

“Although we said goodbye to Larry Hagman and his iconic character J.R. Ewing this year, Dallas has many more stories left to tell, and the Ewing clan will continue to honor J.R.’s memory by keeping its audience surprised and delighted,” TNT’s head of programming Michael Wright said.

Deadline also chronicled the viewership and time slot.

“After a highly rated freshman run last summer, Dallas was relocated to Mondays for Season 2. After a slow start in the new slot, its ratings rebounded, fueled by the sudden death of star Hagman. The episode in which Hagman’s character J.R. was laid to rest drew 3.6 million viewers, rising to 4.9 million in Live+7. For the entire second season, Dallas has averaged 3.8 million viewers in Live+7, with 1.6 million adults 25-54 and 1.4 million adults 18-49.”

Patrick Duffy made news when he discussed the renewal and being ‘optimistic.’
