Theodore Upshaw, Pittsburgh McDonald’s worker arrested for putting heroin in Happy Meal
A McDonald’s worker in Pennsylvania is accused of putting a heroin in Happy Meals sold at a Pittsburgh drive-through.
Police said they arrested the 26-year-old Shania Davis after buying the drugs at a McDonald’s in the East Liberty neighborhood, NBC station WPXI of Pittsburgh reported.
The Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office detailed the scheme to WPXI. A customer who wanted to buy heroin would go to the drive-through speaker and say, “I’d like to order a toy.” The customer would then stop at the first window, pay and get a Happy Meal box containing heroin in small bags. The customer would leave without stopping at the second window.
Davis was arrested with 10 bags of heroin in the Happy Meal box and found Dennis with 50 more.
Theodore Levon Upshaw, age 28, was arrested after the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Narcotics Enforcement Team used a confidential informant to buy heroin in the parking lot of the restaurant, according to spokesman Mike Manko.
Upshaw was staying at an alternative housing facility after receiving early release for a three-year prison sentence after he was convicted of possession with intent to deliver, Manko said.
He is now facing charges of possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to deliver and delivery of heroin.
“Distributing or selling heroin from the restaurant,” said Murrysville Police Sgt. Tom Kusinsky. “He was doing it right there at the McDonald’s.”
