‘The Wolverine’ is set to film in Australia, Hugh Jackson’s hometown

Hugh Jackman will return for a sequel to “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” titled “The Wolverine” and the film appears to be going to Jackson home country of Australia.

The Daily Telegraph reports that a new deal will bring the production to Sydney injecting $80 million into their economy.

The Wolverine is expected to generate more than $80 million in production expenditure in NSW and create more than 720 jobs for NSW-based cast and crew, along with opportunities for 1200 extras,” NSW Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner said.

The Australian Film Industry is very excitement about the news as the “Mad Max: Fury Road” production left Australia to film else where. Stoner added:

“It is a testament to our screen industry that Hugh Jackman and his team have chosen to come back to Australia after such a positive experience making the X-Men Origins.”

James Mangold will helm the film as Jackson again transform into the fan favorite mutant.

The production has been riddled with delays and problems as director Darren Aronofsky left the film and the Japanese earthquake ruined the film schedule.

“The Wolverine” will come to theaters next summer on July 23, 2013.
