‘The Mummy’ reboot filming with Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Courtney B Vance cast
The Mummy is getting another reboot, this time with Tom Cruise as a headliner and Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service) playing a female creature as the title reflects. Now Coming Soon has reported that Universal Pictures has begun filming the new film in Oxford, England, publishing several set photos as news break of Courtney B. Vance joining the film.
Cruise stars as a modern-day special forces soldier and, surprisingly, Boutella, the title role of the mummy with Annabelle Wallis rumored to be playing either a scientist or an archaeologist, and scriptwriter Jon Spaihts has written a role specifically for Jake Johnson (Jurassic World) to be used as comedy relief.

Vance has been cast in an unknown role.He played attorney Johnnie Cochran on The People v. O.J. Simpson, is perhaps best known for his roles in Law & Order: Criminal Intent and The Hunt for Red October.
The Mummy is being directed by Alex Kurtzman with Sean Daniel, who is producing the film along with Chris Morgan (Fast & Furious).
Universal is attempting to build an overlapping franchise starring the Classic Monsters similar to the Marvel Universe.
Fans are excited about Boutella playing the studio’s first ever female mummy, a sharp contrast to the women filling space as helpless, screaming props in previous monster films.
Next up is a new version of The Invisible Man that will star Johnny Depp, a reboot of Van Helsing, some sort of remake of The Bride of Frankenstein, and The Wolfman.
The Mummy movie has a release date of June 9, 2017.
