The Many Opportunities Granted by an MPA

If you’ve ever wanted to have a significant impact on the lives of many people, consider pursuing a Masters of Public Administration, or MPA for short. There are so many job offerings available to recent graduates, and all of them would put you in a position to impart both prudence and social justice to all of society.

Federal Jobs

There are many jobs available to MPA recipients, and it’s worth mentioning what some of them are and what they require. A very common position is to begin a career with the federal government, otherwise known as a “fed career.” Every federal agency, state and field needs skilled public administrators, so consider starting here if you want a job quickly. MPA graduates can also get civil service jobs. If you like working with people and helping them solve their problems, civil service is a great place to work.

Education is a cornerstone of the world, and an MPA would allow you to become an education administrator. Schools and educational institutions need guidance, and your job as an education administrator would be to steer the goals and methods of schools to attain the best results possible.

Nonprofit Positions

MPAs aren’t only good for government jobs, and you’ll have many opportunities in the non-profit sector if you choose to pursue this degree. For example, you could become an executive director or a director of development. The first acts as the CEO of a non-profit, and you would be responsible for leading advocacy efforts, fundraising projects and any other civic duties that are related to the role and organization. If you want to focus on the fundraising side of things, consider becoming a director of development instead.

Pursuing an Online Degree

If you want to continue your education so that you can get any sort of public administration job but you have too many responsibilities that prevent you from going back to school, consider pursuing an online degree. The validity and efficacy of online education only continue to increase, and there are so many benefits to enjoy when pursuing an online degree instead of a degree through a traditional, classroom-oriented program.

The comforts of an online degree are obvious. You can watch video lectures and read any required material when it’s convenient for you. If you have an irregular work schedule, you can still squeeze in time to work towards earning a degree. Even if you travel a lot, as long as you have a reliable internet connection, you can learn the course material and submit any required work.

Although it’s a common misconception that online educators simply don’t provide the same quality of content as teachers in traditional settings, the opposite is almost true. Online educators work closely with industry leaders so that they can create digital course material that prepares students to enter their field of choice immediately upon graduation. There are many excellent universities that also have online programs, like USC. Take advantage of online degrees and get that dream job that you’ve been waiting for.
