‘The Invisible Man’ reboot filming with Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Elisabeth Moss
Filming has officially begun on Universal & Blumhouse’s production of The Invisible Man.
Director Leigh Whannell (Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3) took to Twitter to confirm that production has officially begun in Sydney, Australia.
“Any recommendations for things to do in Sydney? No? Okay, I think I’ll just go shoot a movie then. STARTING TODAY,” Whannell tweeted, holding up the Invisible Man clapper.
Deadline reported that the lead role will be played by The Haunting of Hill House star Oliver Jackson-Cohen. The film also stars Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale), Harriet Dyer (No Activity), Storm Reid (A Wrinkle in Time), and Aldis Hodge (Hidden Figures).
The Invisible Man is inspired by Universal Pictures’ classic monster character, first portrayed by Claude Rains in the studio’s 1933 movie. The story was based on H. G. Wells’ science-fiction novel about a scientist who discovers a way to change the body to become invisible.
Producers are Jason Blum for his Blumhouse Productions and Kylie du Fresne for Goalpost Pictures. The film is a co-production of Goalpost Pictures Australia and Blumhouse Productions, in association with Nervous Tick for Universal Pictures.
Johnny Depp originally was set to star as the Invisible Man in the Dark Universe, but after Tom Cruise’s The Mummy film failed at the box office.
The Invisible Man arrives in theaters on March 13, 2020.
