‘The Incredibles’ teaser trailer, poster, photos and Bob Odenkirk’s role
The trailer for the highly anticipated film The Incredibles 2has finally been released.
UPDATED: New photo, Bob Odenkirk’s role in the film discussed
The trailer premiered during the ESPN’s College GameDay event as Disney used their sports outlet as a vehicle to promote the Pixar blockbuster film.
Many fans took to Twitter questioning how Jack-Jack, the superhero baby, could still be in fact a baby after all of these years. Fans joked about it and even compared the movie to other popular shows on TV that do the same thing.
Mo Gilligan (@MoTheComedian) tweeted, “Me watching the Incredibles 2 trailer and seeing that the baby was still a baby after all these years” with a common meme attached to it.
Coming to the movies defense, JojoC (@joreyc4life) tweeted, “If Stewie can be a baby after 18 years of family guy, ya’ll leave Jack-Jack alone #Incredibles 2.”
Incredibles 2 has been moved up and Bird explained that “Incredibles 2 picks up, literally, where the first film left off, with Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl battling The Underminer, while Violet and Dash are stuck with babysitting Jack-Jack. That’s all we’re saying for now. but rest assured, there are a lot more superheroics in store for our ‘family dynamic.'”
This time around, Mrs. Incredible is taking the lead when it comes to adventure and heroics. Holly Hunter returns to reprise her role as the head of Pixar’s super-family and she says that this time, Mrs. Incredible, aka Elastigirl, is tackling her own ambition instead of being forced out of retirement.
“Helen’s appetite for adventure comes to the fore,” Hunter says. “Whereas before, she was driven to become Mrs. Incredible out of necessity, where she went into it to save her husband, I think this time she really meets her own ambition head-on. The ambition of being an adventure is something that we get to explore.”
The sequel has added Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), who says that he is afraid of “wrecking” the film by saying too much.
“I would ruin my part of the movie if I told you, if I answered that question,” he said in an interview with CinemaBlend. “That is exactly the question I’m not allowed to answer. So think about that. Think about that.”
The original Incredibles was released in 2004 and made $633 million at the box office. The Incredibles earned an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and Best Sound Editing at the 77th Academy Awards.
Brad Bird will return as director and writer for the film. Craig T. Nelson, Hunter, Sarah Vowell and Samuel L. Jackson will also return to reprise their respective roles. It’s also assumed that Bird will also voice Edna Mode.
The Incredibles 2 arrives in theaters June 15, 2018.
