‘The Host’ star Saoirse Ronan sought by Marvel to star as Scarlet Witch in ‘Avengers 2’

Saoirse Ronan is reportedly being sought by Marvel Studios for the role of the Scarlet Witch in Avengers 2. The Hanna actress is the company’s “prototype” for the role, according to Super Hero Hype.

Joss Whedon’s Avengers 2 script will indeed include the sister and brother team of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. The article details the rumors which are swirling “they’re generally looking for actors in their 20s and we’ve heard word that the “prototype” for their Scarlet Witch is none other than Irish actress Saoirse Ronan. Except something to note is that they’re going “British” for the role rather than trying to have actors playing Eastern Europeans.”

Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are mutants, twin offspring of Magneto, the famous X-Men villain. Quicksilver is able to move and think at a superspeed while Scarlet Witch is able to cast “hexes” and powers of manipulation, but are short-lived.

Ronan was most recently seen in the Stephenie Meyer adaptation The Host. She will next appear in Byzantium, The Grand Budapest Hotel and Violet & Daisy.
Avengers 2 is scheduled for release on May 1, 2015.
