‘The Fantastic Four’ gets Doctor Doom with Toby Kebbell
Fox adds a villain for their new reboot, The Fantastic Four, casting the character Victor von Doom, more commonly known by his only slightly more evil-sounding name Doctor Doom, will be played by Toby Kebbell.
Variety reports the deal without any details on the character or what role he plays in the new film.
Kebbell would join Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell in the reboot that plans to shoot this spring.
This new version of FF will be based on “The Ultimate Fantastic Four,” the contemporary update will focus on the characters as young men and women. Chronicle director Josh Trank will helm the pic with Simon Kinberg, Matthew Vaughn and Gregory Goodman serving as producers.
In the Ultimate FF, Doom is an aristocrat who is descended from Vlad “the Impaler” Tepes and is Victor van Damme. He’s involved in the same scientific program as Reed Richards, and is instrumental in the accident that gives the Fantastic Four their powers.
Kebbell starred in Prince of Persia, Wrath of Titans and the upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
The Fantastic Four arrives in theaters June 19, 2015.
