‘The Expendables 3’ motion poster, TV spot teases Mel Gibson, explosions, Pierce Brosnan next

A third Expendables film lands next month and the latest TV spot and poster teaser more action, explosions and Mel Gibson. Before the film even arrives, there are already rumors of former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan signing up for the next chapter.

The Expendables_3_Banner_poster“Oh, the offer has come in for the next Expendables. I just worked over in Bulgaria with Avi Lerner who makes them. He said, ‘Would you like to be in The Expendables? I’d love to have you’, and I said, ‘Why not?’ So we’ll see,” he added.

“I have no idea which one it would be,” he added. “I just said yes. It could be Expendables 7!”

Gibson is the current foil to Sylvester Stallone and his brigade of action statrs. The new TV spot reveals some new footage for fans, mostly of explosions, but also a crazed Mel Gibson and a couple of scenes with Kelsey Grammer. Sly is featured in the exploding motion poster.

Most of the other buzz is surrounding the film’s PG-13 rating and whether it will hurt or help the box office totals. The previous two films were rated-R.

Forbes notes “…after the box office failures of The Last StandParkerBullet to the HeadEscape Plan, and Sabotage, Stallone and company may be wondering if their core audience has deserted them and hopes to rope in younger recruits.”

“We want to reach as many people as possible. It’s very close to an R, believe me, it’s right there. But I think we owe it to the next generation. We thought we’d join that club for a while,” Stallone said in an interview about the rating change. He adds a few more details about the change here.

The Expendables 3 stars Stallone, Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, Antonion Banderas, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Grammer, Gibson, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Ronda Rousey, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Victor Ortiz, and Glen Powell.

The film opens August 15th in theaters.
