The death of todder twins Micah and Miah Shaver shock Florida community
A tragedy in New Port Richey, Florida is still unfolding as 3-year-old twins were killed in a Monday morning house fire.

Micah and Miah Shaver
Fraternal twins, Micah and Miah Shaver, were trapped inside their mobile home as smoke and fire consumed their home.
Neighbor Kristy Holt couldn’t hold back the tears describing the scene to WTSP.
“I tried to go in through the back window and it was too smoky and I needed a flashlight or something to see,” said Holt, “and I saw the back of the couch sizzling.”
Holt and other neighbors describe the Shaver twins’ mother, Shannon Garza, spraying the home with a garden hose, shocked with horror as others attempted to bust into the home.
“I said, ‘Where’s your babies?’ And she said, ‘I don’t know where my babies are.’ I said, ‘What do you mean you don’t know where your babies are?’,” Holt explained.
The police arrived and report a different reaction, a mother screaming and crying.
“The mother was outside, hysterical, screaming that her two babies were inside the house,” said Sheriff Chris Nocco.
Kaylee Roach, 14, is friends with the twins’ older siblings, 12-year-old Joseph and 13-year-old Yolanda. The two had already left for school when the fire started.
Kaylee says the twins were cute.
“They were like my brother and sisters, because they were, like, hugging on me and stuff,” she said, “I really liked them a lot.”
The family lost everything in the fire. Extended family are helping to get donations of clothes and other essentials. A local funeral home, Dobies Funeral Home, is donating cremation services, and the Church of Christ is offering to do the memorial service at no cost to the family.
