‘The Big Bang Theory’ star Johnny Galecki says he’s nothing like Leonard, but ‘playing the geek is cathartic’
One of the biggest shows are television is The Big Bang Theory and star Johnny Galecki wants to make it known that he is nothing like Leonard in real life.
“I’m not like him, but there are some things in the show that come up that really hit home and I have an emotional reaction to,” Galecki says in an interview in the Dec. 2013 issue of CBS Watch! Magazine.
“Playing the geek, the underdog, is cathartic and it’s not my sad story – everybody’s felt like the outside at some point, and it’s been those storylines that really affect me.”
Galecki thanks his mother, noting like with her, who was Gladys Knight’s assistant, before discussing his brief ‘formal’ training in Chicago acting classes.
“It was kind of innate for me. The hardest part to being an actor is being able to behave in such an unnatural way, but that somehow came naturally.”
Galecki stars with Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar as the four geeks and the girl next door in Chuck Lorre sitcom now in it’s seventh season.
Galecki is also famous for his role as David Healy on Roseanne, Rusty on Christmas Vacation and several small roles on TV and in film.
