‘The Americans’ star Keri Russell details ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ plot, being Jason Clarke’s girlfriend
Even if fans haven’t kept up on interviews, press releases and viral marketing, the plot for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes shouldn’t be too surprising.
The virus featured in Rise of the Planet of the Apes has broken out and decimated the human population to incredibly low numbers. Whether that same virus impacted Caesar’s followers or some other affliction kept their numbers equally low, according to Keri Russell with I Am Rogue, the numbers of both groups are so low each thinks the other side has died out.
“I can tell you that it’s 10 years after ‘Rise’ and basically, there’s been this virus outbreak and there’s very little of civilization alive. The apes that are left don’t think there are any humans left and the humans left don’t think there are any apes left. Through a set of circumstances, they meet up and it’s really about can the two communities exist together. I play one of the existing humans in the colony and I have some medical skills, although it’s not like I’m a big fancy doctor…I’m sort of Jason Clarke’s girlfriend.”
Andy Serkis, celebrated for his performance in the last film, reprises his role as Caesar. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes also stars Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Public Enemies, The Great Gatsby), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises, The Harry Potter film series), Keri Russell (The Americans, Mission Impossible III), Toby Kebbell (The Prince of Persia, Wrath of the Titans, Rock N Rolla), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In, ParaNorman), Enrique Murciano (Traffic, Black Hawk Down), Kirk Acevedo (The Thin Red Line) and Judy Greer (The Descendants, Three Kings, 13 Going on 30).
Dawn is directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In).
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes arrives in theaters July 18th, 2014.
Synopsis:
