Texas: Alfred Davila’s death ruled a homicide, police seeking female ‘person of interest’

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a man found dead in his home Thursday as Alfred Davila and the death has been ruled a homicide.

Alfred Davila

Davila, 57, was killed by blunt force trauma to the head, the medical examiner’s office confirmed Friday. He was found dead in his home on the 1200 block of Burnet Thursday.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said Thursday that family members had not seen Davila since Tuesday, so they went to his home to check on him.

“They went in they found him deceased,” McManus said.

No one else was at the home when Davila was discovered, but police said they are searching for a woman who was living with him, calling her a “person of interest.”

McManus said officers had been called to the home for reported disturbances over the past several days.

“It was a back-and-forth, assaultive-type relationship,” McManus said. “Each time we came, there was not enough there to arrest anyone.”

Police have not said whether the woman was found Friday.

The man’s death shocked the family, which includes four daughters and ten grandchildren.

“He was a Jack of all trades. He did everything. He did plumbing. He did housing,” said his daughter, Robin Davila, speaking with KSAT 12.

As they gathered, the family struggles with their disbelief, although they wonder if his kindness may have backfired.

“People have scammed him, and stole from him, and taken advantage of his kindness,” said Teresa Davila.
