‘Terminator’ reboot set: Mackenzie Davis cast in key role alongside Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger

Director Tim Miller has been given the keys to the Terminator franchise, setting up a new reboot of the popular science fiction franchise. Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger are returning to the franchise with Mackenzie Davis set to be the “new face” of the franchise.

Davis starred in the Golden Globe-winning Black Mirror episode San Junipero. She starred in Blade Runner 2049, had a role in The Martian (opposite Matt Damon and Donald Glover) and That Awkward Moment (opposite Zac Efron, Michael B. Jordan, and Miles Teller).

According to Variety, Davis’ official role is not detailed, but she is said to be playing “one of the new faces” in the franchises reboot. Davis will reportedly play a key role as “a solder-assassin on a mission,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. “It is a human character in a movie that once again sets up the battle between (wo)man and machine,” they add.

Schwarzenegger recently stated that Terminator 6 will start shooting in summer 2018.

“We are starting to shoot Terminator 6 in June to the middle of October, so I am in that,” he said. “I am looking forward to coming back as the T-800 model. It’s gonna be great with Tim Miller as the director and Jim Cameron is kind of supervising the whole thing.”

Previous reports have suggested that the film is looking to cast an 18-year old Mexican actress to play the female lead named Dani Ramos. The villain will also reportedly be of Latin descent.

Terminator 6 is currently set for July 26, 2019.
