Teen caught shoplighting with dead baby in her purse, Tiona Rodriguez, is now receiving death threats

Tiona Rodriguez, the 17-year-old caught with her dead baby in a bag while allegedly shoplifting in Victoria’s Secret, has received death threats online, according to defense lawyer Genay Ann Leitman.

Tiona RodriguezRodriguez was arrested shoplifting at Victoria’s Secret in midtown and authorities discovered the corpse of her newborn son inside of her bag.

“The mother informed me that Tiona was getting threats on the Internet,” defense lawyer Genay Ann Leitman said Sunday.

Authorities haven’t revealed any details about the threats at this time, but they are believed to have occurred on Facebook.

Rodriguez reportedly told police that she had suffered a miscarriage when she was six months pregnant and had not known what to do with the fetus.

The medical examiner determined that the baby was just a month shy of full term.

He son weighed over eight pounds according to authorities.

She didn’t seem abnormal or behaving differently “than any other girl who hoped to attend college” says sources close to the family.

Rodriguez pleaded not guilty to the shoplifting charges.

The cause of death will likely determine what charges will be filed against the teen, but the autopsy was inconclusive.

Police sources said asphyxiation was among the possible causes of death. The medical examiner’s office insisted the cause was still under investigation. Prosecutors aren’t likely to elevate charges against Rodriguez before investigators determine how the boy died.
