Ted Cruz and John McCain relationship full of animosity
The tenuous relationship between fellow Republican Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) showed it’s true colors earlier this year when McCain called Cruz and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul “wacko birds” after Paul’s now famous filibuster of John Brennan’s nomination to head the CIA.
Since then there has been no love lost between the freshman Senator and Harvard Law graduate and the crusty veteran Senator and POW.
In fact, in what is possibly the clearest way to put it, in a story of Cruz recently published in GQ, author Jason Zengerle reveals how a McCain advisor said, “He f***ing hates Cruz. He’s just offended by his style.”
However, Cruz is clearly not too impressed with the so-called “maverick” Senator when he said of McCain 2008 presidential run, “I don’t know a conservative who didn’t feel embarrassed voting in 2006 or 2008,” Cruz said. “I think the Republican Party lost its way. We didn’t stand for the principles we’re supposed to believe in.”
This animosity will likely continue as each Senator represent different wings of the Republican Party, constitutional conservative or Tea Party vs. establishment, that often appear at odds with each other.
If there wasn’t animosity between these two, then as far as I am concerned Cruz would get a thumbs down if he puts any credibility in McCain, McCain has turned into an embarrassment, along with Graham, Cristy, Biden on and on!
