Tattoo enthusiast Matt Gone tattoos his own eyeballs

Matt Gone of Portland, Oregon has redefined tattoo enthusiast, having tattooed over 98 percent of his skin, but now has chosen to tattoo his eyeballs! Yes that’s right, Gone put tattoo ink into his eyes, as a matter of fact he injected a different color into each eye.

According to Gone, he began tattooing his body to cover up some birth defects and the rest is history, twenty years later, Matt has nearly all his skin tattooed including a checkerboard design on his head.

But injecting tattoo ink into your eyes is not a great idea according to ophthalmologist Dr. Douglas Meyer, who went on to say that there is a real danger of infection which could lead to blindness or even the loss of an eye.

When this was brought up to Gone he said he knew the risk and he “patch tested” before actually doing it.

Though Matt is proud of his work, he doesn’t encourage others to do it.  “I’m glad I tattooed my eyes, I got lucky, but it’s your risk and I’m not going to help you,” he said. “I did this for me; this is my project, my body.”
