Tampa’s Franciscan Center working to promote well living, calling for public involvement

The Franciscan Center is seeking fresh ideas and programming to promote well living and invites the public to share and enjoy its venue and facilities.

“If you have an idea for a workshop, class or program that promotes well living, we want to hear it!” said CEO Wendy Leigh, who joined the Franciscan Center in March of this year. “Are you a professional development trainer, consultant, or a leadership coach in need of a venue? Do you teach yoga or meditation?  Want to promote a new book or venture? The Franciscan Center has space available! You can be a part of the Center’s new programming!”

Leigh adds, “The Franciscan Center is Tampa’s best kept secret. For nearly 50 years, the Center has hosted retreats, classes and programs promoting spiritual well-being, peace and joy, yet only a handful of Tampa Bay area residents and businesses know it’s here. We want to reach out to the community with a number of new offerings that inspire well-living: yoga, professional development, self-improvement classes, motivational speakers… We encourage anyone who has a program they offer to contact us. We are open to new ideas and want to hear yours!”

The 16 Point Compass Re-Routing Series is the latest partnering of the Franciscan Center with a new area business. Company founder Nestor Ortiz offers Professional Development workshops and retreats on an on-going basis. Ortiz comments, “The Franciscan Center has given me an opportunity to offer my services in an affordable and supportive environment. I feel like I am really able to reach out to the community.”

The Franciscan Center, 3010 N. Perry Ave., Tampa, FL 33603, occupies eight acres on the Hillsborough River, just north of the Riverwalk and Armature Works. It includes a retreat center with 41 guest rooms, conference rooms and meeting areas, a waterfront pavilion, a professionally staffed dining hall and a peaceful green space of trees and pathways. The Center offers space on a rental basis, but also considers partnering to promote budding businesses and local artists, writers and teachers. Established organizations are also welcome. The convenient, yet tranquil setting makes it the perfect place for professional development, staff trainings, retreats, board meetings, business lunches and celebrations.

The Professional Development Series is just one of the Franciscan Center’s new offerings designed to promote wellness and well-being for body, mind and spirit. Upcoming programs include yoga, an inspirational speaker series and more. More information is available at franciscancentertampa or Facebook: @francentertampa. The Franciscan Center is a non- profit, 501(3)(c), private retreat house sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, NY with dedicated laity who are committed in carrying out the mission.
