Tampa: Pat Frank honored for her role in improvements to the organ and tissue donation system

Hillsborough Clerk of the Circuit Court Pat Collier Frank was honored Wednesday, January 25th, by LifeLink Foundation, for her instrumental role in groundbreaking improvements to the organ and tissue donation system in Florida.

Frank’s efforts paved the way for the partnership between Florida organ and tissue recovery programs and the Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles, where a majority of people choose to register as donors today.  A plaque bearing Mrs. Frank’s image now adorns the “Wall of Inspiration” at LifeLink Foundation headquarters in Tampa, beside other pioneers in organ transplantation.

“Pat Frank served on our Board of Governors for many years, and we are grateful for the leadership she demonstrated as an active Board member and Legislator.  In two separate pieces of legislation, Pat solidified Floridians’ ability to make a personal choice to become a donor by saying “yes” to donation when getting or renewing a driver license, and implemented a requirement for hospitals to provide every family who lost a loved one with consideration of organ and tissue donation when donation was an option,” said Dennis Heinrichs, CEO/Chairman of the Board, LifeLink Foundation.  “She passed legislation that resulted in saving lives for those in need of transplantation,” he added.

LifeLink Foundation is the independent, non-profit organ and tissue recovery organization dedicated to serving patients and families in need of transplantation therapy. LifeLink serves West and Southwest Florida, in addition to the entire state of Georgia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
