‘Supergirl’ season 2 officially moves to CW, will focus on the past
Fans have been aware of the possibility of Supergirl heading from CBS to The CW and now it has been made official. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Supergirl will make her way to The CW after a failure for CBS.
CBS, a network that typically doesn’t take risks seemed to be an odd choice, especially when the core demographic also tends to skew older, which is likely a major reason why it wanted to see if it could sustain a series clearly geared towards a younger audience — it could not.
Produced by Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler, Adler recently told THR that, “Season 2 is going to be more reflective of their past and how they’re going to change their future as a result of it in a really emotional way. We definitely want to continue making more of this show.”
Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg previously told IGN that Project Cadmus will become a prominent presence in the upcoming season.
“It’s going to remain an evil, specter-y thing that’s out there, but it’s definitely something that we’re going to pursue,” Kreisberg said. “It’ll definitely be part of season 2.”
The first season with Kara (Melissa Benoist) finding an empty Kryptonian pod that has crash-landed on Earth. The season ended on a hopeful note as Kara succeeded in saving the citizens of National City from Myriad, as well as getting a kiss from her long-time crush, Jimmy (Mehcad Brooks).
In the last few episodes of season one, it was revealed that Cadmus is a secret genetic engineering laboratory that dissects alien prisoners. Kara and Alex (Chyler Leigh) learned that their father, Jeremiah Danvers (Dean Cain), who all the while they thought was dead, was being kept as a prisoner there.

When you pit a show like Supergirl against another DC show that is very dark and brutal, many comic fans will go towards that. It was a stupid programing choice.
CBS just did not know what to do with it. I’m glad it has a second chance with the CW, and they pair it with The Flash.
