‘Star Wars 9’ adds Dominic Monaghan, re-uniting JJ Abrams with the ‘Lost’ star
Star Wars Episode IX director, J.J. Abrams is reuniting with a Lost star, Dominic Monaghan, who is joining the cast of the new Star Wars film.
Deadline reports the news and Monaghan said: “The galaxy far far away has had almost as much influence as the one I live in, so I am delighted to be involved.”
The British actor came to fame playing Merry, one of Frodo’s wingman in all three installments of the Peter Jackson-directed The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Back in 2014, he publicly expressed his desire to hook back up with Abrams in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Monaghan joins Keri Russell, Richard E. Grant, and Naomi Ackie as newscomers for the conclusion of the main Star Wars saga.
Monaghan was mostly recently seen in Duncan Jones’ Mute, and he’s got roles in the upcoming movies Waterlily Jaguar and Radioflash.
