St Pete police seeking information in Marquis Scott murder, shot and killed riding bicycle

Police in St. Petersburg, Florida are investigating the homicide shooting of Marquis Scott, shot and killed while riding his bicycle Tuesday.

Scott, 20, was found dead by officers at Queensboro Avenue South and Yale Street after receiving a 911 call just after 10 p.m.

While paramedics rushed Scott to Bayfront Health in St. Pete, doctors later pronounced him dead as a result of the gunshot wound.

“It appears he was riding his bicycle at the time he was shot,” explained Yolanda Fernandez, spokesperson for the St. Petersburg Police Department. “He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.”

Police have not released any information about a possible suspect or motive.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call St. Petersburg Police at 727-893-7780.
