Spain’s Miss Universe Angela Ponce explain’s a woman’s identity, even ‘if you have a penis’
The first transgender Miss Universe contestant, Angela Ponce, says you can be a woman without having a vagina.
“Outsiders say what I can and cannot do, what I am and what I am not,” Ponce told the Daily Mail. “No, I’m sorry. To be a woman is your identity. It doesn’t matter if you are white, black, if you have a vagina… if you have a penis.”
Ponce, a man who identifies as a woman, will represent Spain in the international competition.
“I always say: having a vagina didn’t transform me into a woman. I am a woman, already before birth, because my identity is here,” the transgender person told the newspaper.
Ponce, 27, sounds motivated to take her message to the youthful minds.
“Children are born without prejudices and I think that if we talk to them about diversity from a young age… we can create a new generation of human beings who are raised a lot better, more tolerant and respectful,” the contestant told the Daily Mail.
The prettiest woman in Spain is a man, who identifies as a woman, and wants us to “create a new generation” of “better” human beings.
