Six more H7N9 avian flu cases reported in China
The reports of new cases of avian influenza A(H7N9) out of China have been what seems endless today as at least six cases from four provinces were documented.
The Hong Kong Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health (DH) is reporting four cases. two each from Guangdong and Zhejiang provinces, according to a CHP press release Jan. 10.
The two cases in Zhejiang, a 79-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man, were both in critical condition.
A 42-year-old woman and a 59-year-old woman, both from Foshan were also reported on Friday in Guangdong, where a total of 12 cases have been confirmed since last August.
Both Guangdong cases are considered mild.
In addition to these, the Chinese news source, Xinhua reported today of an additional case from Fujian province. This patient passed away Friday morning.
And lastly, the Jiangsu health department confirmed one case in a 54-year-old woman. She is currently being treated in a hospital in Nanjing, according to a news release (computer translated).
