Shooting near Seattle leaves 5 dead including the shooter

A man has killed his live-in girlfriend in Washington state before fatally shooting three men, including the one who had phoned 911 to report hearing gunfire, police say.

Less than half an hour south of Seattle police arrived to an apartment complex and were forced to shot at a suspect in the parking lot.

Federal Way Police Chief Brian Wilson said the suspect confronted officers with a shotgun. Police fired upon him.

“Verbal commands were given by officers to that subject, the subject was not complying with the verbal commands, and given the fact he was armed, officers fired on that subject,” Wilson said.

The unidentified man, died at the scene.

Neither the suspect nor the victims have been identified. Chief Wilson said the victims were the suspect’s 25-year-old girlfriend, and three men, ages 24, 46 and 62.

Police were still piecing together information, but believe the suspect shot his girlfriend in the apartment. He then confronted two men, the 24-year-old and 46-year-old, argued with them and fatally shot them both, authorities said.

Chief Wilson said the 62-year-old man had heard the commotion from another apartment in the building, went outside to investigate then retreated inside his residence to call 911.

The suspect broke down that man’s door with a shotgun and killed him, Chief Wilson said.

“When officers arrived there were still shots being fired,” said Federal Way police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock.

KING5 reports that Sylvia Valdovinos believes her 23-year-old son, Caesar, was one of the victims.

“I just don’t want to believe this is happening to us,” said Sylvia. She said Caesar had been in trouble with the law before, but cleaned up his act and was living with his girlfriend and 1-year-old daughter. It’s believed Caesar was one of the two men who was shot in the parking lot.

“I just think my son was hanging around with the wrong people at the wrong time,” said Sylvia.
