‘Sherlock’ star Benedict Cumberbatch tops David Beckham on Valentine’s Day poll

British women would rather be dating Benedict Cumberbatch than David Beckham this Valentine’s Day, a new poll reveals.

The Star Trek Into Darkness star topped David Beckham and Leonardo DiCaprio in the new Marie Claire UK report.

The survey asked 300 women who they’d most like to enjoy a romantic dinner with on February 14th.

Prince William, Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, and Will Smith were among the top 10 names, while Danny Dyer stole 7% of the vote.

The 37-year-old British actor has also been voted the sexiest movie star in an Empire poll, revealed in an interview last December that being famous actually makes it “harder” to meet women.

And you can’t control that…You can’t control perceptions of you,” Benedict Cumberbatch said in an interview in GQ UK’s January 2014 issue, in which the “Sherlock” star graces the cover.

In October, Empire magazine launched a poll to find the sexiest movie stars, and Benedict Cumberbatch came out on top. He beat other hotties like Henry Cavill, Ryan Gosling, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Pattinson, and Bradley Cooper.

Empire wrote, “You’re damn right he’s number one. While not as hyper-muscly or comically chiselled as others on this list, Cumberbatch specialises in characters that are far too clever, and far too cool, to take the rest of humanity seriously – and then he somehow makes us love him for it. It helps that, off-screen, he’s still clever and insanely charismatic but quite a bit nicer than the characters he habitually plays.”

Empire named his role as John Harrison in “Star Trek” as his sexiest movie role.
