‘Sherlock’ season 3 returns in US, Benedict Cumberbatch excited about Peter Capaldi, ‘Doctor Who’

Fans in the US will finally get a chance to catch up with the viewers of BBC One when the hit show Sherlock returns for season 3.

sherlock-3-benedict-cumberbatch-photoStar Benedict Cumberbatch has made the rounds promoting the show’s return, but even confessed how he almost didn’t take the role.

“My reservation was ‘Well, this is a very iconic character, there will be a lot of attention on it,’” Benedict told Entertainment Weekly. “This was before I had had any significant success [but] I knew there would still be a lot of focus on it. And while I had done work, it wasn’t stepping into the populist limelight like playing a character like Holmes. So I did have a pause for thought.”

“I thought,’ If I’m going to do this, if I’m going to step into the limelight with a large leading role of iconic status, then I might as well do it these people’,” the Star Trek Into Darkness star added.

During the multitude of interviews and questions, the Fifth Estate star even spoke out about his love of Doctor Who and the new Doctor: Peter Capaldi.

“[It’s] great news,” Cumberbatch exclaimed when asked about the Capaldi casting. “I’m very excited to see him in Doctor Who.

The actor added: “He is a class act, Peter, and a great actor.”
